Two Wonderful Retreat Houses

RIVERSIDE WRITERS' RETREAT

Here along the banks of the mighty Grand River (longest in Michigan) is a cozy cottage with a lodge look. Surrounded by towering trees and a large deck, this riverside setting features sculpture gardens, walkways to the water, and a fire pit with kindling close by for night-time campfires. Use of bikes, kayaks, and a canoe come with the rental.

The cottage, beautifully designed in knotty pine, with 1-bedroom and a loft, has all the conveniences of home (except for a phone), including lots of books and magazines, video/DVD equipment, a piano, and a good writing desk. The floor plan features an open kitchen with a bar. Large windows and a slider let in lots of light. A swing, a rocker, and log chairs look out to the river from the deck. The bedroom features a queen size bed, 2 night stands, a closet and chest of drawers. The spacious loft serves as an additional bedroom with a twin-size mattress and a 2-drawer night stand.

Libraries are close by, including the neighborhood library in Comstock Park and a new state-of-the-art Public library 5 miles away in Plainfield. The wonderful White Pine Bike Trail is just blocks away.

NOTE: Neither of our locations are designed as youth retreats. There are youth camps in West Michigan and we are not competing with them.

ISADORE COUNTRY RETREAT

Below are outside and inside photos of our little "farm" house two miles north of Cedar in the Leelanau Penninsula of Michigan, only five miles from Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore located on the shores of Lake Michigan. Across the road is the picturesque Holy Rosary Catholic Church and cemetary. Looking from the back deck toward the south is a rustic barn, and toward the north and east are rolling hills. It's a perfect spot for writing and meditation. The house is stocked with books, and magazines, CDs, a baby grand piano, TVs, and writing desks (both inside and out).
